What is Cacao?
Seeds from a small tropical American evergreen tree, from which cocoa, cocoa butter, and chocolate are made.
T he tree that bears cacao seeds, which are contained in large, oval pods that grow on the trunk.
Cacao as Medicine
Long regarded as a food treat, cacao is now used by some people as medicine.
Cacao seed is used for infectious intestinal diseases, asthma, bronchitis, and as an expectorant for lung congestion. The seed coat is used for liver, bladder, and kidney ailments; diabetes; as a tonic; and as a general remedy.
Raise Your Vibration
The spirt of Cacao was one of the most revered of the ancient mayan deities. They called Cacao “The water that runs through the heart”. Chocolate is a sacred medicinal psychoactive plant and Theobroma or cacao actually means the “food of the Gods”.

Meet The Dream Team
Managing Director Open Mandala
I connected powerfully with the potent medicinal potential of Cacao through my passion for Dance in particular Ecstatic Dance. I became more and more aware over time of Cacao’s heart opening qualities and it’s amazing multifaceted potential. I saw the different benefits people were gaining from Cacao with my friends and the wider community. I realised this is an amazing plant, that needs to be celebrated and publicised so people can enjoy its benefits more widely.
I began Open Mandala to create conscious community events. These include Meditation, Yoga, Kirtan, Ecstatic Dance, Conscious Parties, Self development workshops including the Golden Mandala Approach, Conscious Products launches, Authenticity training, Cacao events, Sound Healing and visioning workshops. Open Mandala has continued to grow and evolve with this event offering the largest Cacao themed celebration in Europe to my knowledge. I believe in aligning heart, mind and passion. These are the key to manifesting happiness in life and I expect this festival to be a joyous celebration. The rich broth of delicious offerings and inspiring amazing facilitators promises to expand horizons, break new ground for Cacao and broaden the Open Mandala family.

Return To Eden
Ben joined MahaDevi in 2016 as an adult yoga teacher and has since trained to work with children with special needs. Prior to that he worked for a number of large national and international charities including Diabetes UK, Arthritis Research and The National Deaf Children’s Society in a variety of fundraising roles. Ben currently manages his own fundraising consultancy ‘Transform Fundraising’ with a diverse portfolio of clients from social action, refugee, the arts, food awareness, wellbeing and international development sectors. He is trustee and secretary for a yoga organisation based in the South West. Ben leads on all MahaDevi operations and acts as the link between the Board of Trustees and the rest of the team.
Ben is a trained in Classical Hatha Yoga, Yoga for The Special Child, Yoga Nidra and Indian Head Massage.
The main focus of the workshop is the essence of contact improvisation: listening and sharing. The higher level of listening of ourselves and our dance partners gives higher responsiveness to each other, bring us fluidity, and high satisfaction in connection on a deeper level.
We will work on getting into the body, on increasing awareness, on deepening sensitivity for smallest movements and energies and lightest changes of directions. Such subtlety in listening brings us closer to the environment surrounding us in dance and gives us a very intimate connection with the dance partners. That results in quicker development of the technique within principles and fundamentals of contact improvisation.

What People Are Saying
“Just wanted to feedback how much I enjoyed Friday night’s dance. The intro and exercise at the beginning really helped the group dance something very special into life. It was lovely seeing Brailla dancing on the stage and then bounding onto the dance floor, joy unrestrained. The gong bath relax down was a lovely finish. Many thanks for bringing these kind of events together.”
